Postdoc & PhD Positions

Looking for a Postdoc position or a top PhD program in English that you can start after BSc or MSc?

CS@max planck Doctoral Program

CS@max planck is a highly selective doctoral program that grants admitted students full financial support to pursue research in the broad area of computer and information science, with faculty at Max Planck Institutes and some of the best German universities. The MPI-SP faculty is also actively participating in this program.

To qualify for the program, students must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science (or a related field) and have an outstanding academic record. We especially encourage applications from students who wish to explore research across the CS spectrum before committing to a topic and advisor.

For more information about CS@max planck, see here:
https://www.cis.mpg.de/graduate-programs/cs-max-planck

Applications for Fall admission must be completed by December 15 of the previous year.

International Max Planck Research School for Privacy Enhancing Technologies for the Digital Society

This program is a joint initiative between the Max Planck Institute for Security and Privacy (MPI-SP) and Ruhr University Bochum (RUB), combining world-class research environments in both institutes.

The program is structured around several key research areas. These include the development of new cryptographic foundations for long-term privacy, the redesign of computational and network infrastructures to support privacy by design, and the creation of frameworks for responsible, user-centric data use. In addition, the program explores how machine learning systems can be designed to respect user privacy and align with societal values.

For more information, see here: https://www.mpi-sp.org/imprs

There will be two application cycles per year, deadlines June 01 and December 01.

Unsolicited Applications

Unsolicited applications are also possible. If your interest matches the research areas of a group leader at MPI-SP, feel free to reach out to them directly. Please include detailed information about your background, your research interests, and how those relate to the research direction of the envisioned advisor. Generic applications will be ignored.
